God Bless America

America has such gorgeous symbols for the values they hold dear.

And words that resonate still:

"Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security."

Bless you. I'm pleased to claim the likes of you as 'cuzzins'.

Was pulling for you, too, on Dominion Day.

Happy Independence Day to my fellow Canuck!

BTW, to answer your question on my blog, my camera is a Canon SD500. It's 7.1MP and I just bought it last week. It did me proud on the whale trip!

Compare that one paragraph, written over 200 years ago, with the dull, feel-good language of the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms. One was written by visionairies, the other by lawyers. Guess which is which.
