***UPDATE -- Vaasuhan was found yesterday afternoon and returned to the Whitby Mental Health Centre. Thank God.
It could have been a plot for a movie. Wait -- it was.
Reminiscent of the film The Dream Team, which starred Michael Keaton and Peter Boyle, a Whitby mental patient has gone missing from a 'field trip' to a baseball game. Unlike the movie, where the patients were lovable misfits, the real life missing man, Mylvaganam Vaasuhan, is a paranoid schizophrenic who is without the medication he needs to control his sexual urges.
Apparently, the 31 year old, who was found 'not criminally responsible' was put away after sexually assaulting two girls in 2001. This known pedophile 'wandered away' during the outing, and no one knows where he might have gone.
Earlier this month, the Whitby facility had trouble finding a different patient who had escaped. Yet just two weeks later, they obviously felt confident enough to actually bring a group of mental patients to a Blue Jays game.
What's that joke about the inmates running the asylum? Well, when a pedophile is involved, it isn't funny.

oh my goodness...this is a concern...not only for this patient, but for the vulnerable in his path.
Wonder how many personnel were with this group. Do you have any more info? Please can you post updates here...and thank you.
nb tory lady -- He was with five supervisors, but they haven't said how many other patients were with them.
The police still haven't found him, but my guess he's not far from where I live. He's from Scarborough (a suburb of Toronto) and one would guess he'd go where he's familiar with it.
If I hear anything, I'll post again.
Well, I bet the jail will reason that hey, he seemed OK and cooperative, we had no indication he was a flight risk.
Right!
Hannibal Leckner is less dangerous than a pedophile. Common criminals, and even some sociopaths know there's a line they can't cross when it comes to abusing kids.
If this man fled jail, it's not because he missed freedom. It's because sex with Bubba inside the walls is not what turns him on, but rather the blue-eyed blond six year-old kid in the Sears catalogue modeling pyjamas.
An amber-like alert should have been sent out.
