What now?

So the Official Languages committee has grilled Bob Nicholson. Now what?

Besides embarrassing themselves, and trying to disparage Shane Doan, the committee has even challenged the integrity of the NHL by suggesting the investigation into the alleged incident was inadequate. But now that they've aired their grievances, what did they accomplish? What did they hope to accomplish?

I have no link to confirm, but as I listened to Leafs Lunch this afternoon, twice they said that one of the questions posed to Hockey Canada reps was 'how many players on Team Canada speak French?'

If this was actually asked, one has to wonder if it is a harbinger of political interference yet to come.

How many professional hockey/baseball/football/soccer players speak proper English?

These people should stop being so damn uptight about everything.

How many of the Bloc MP's in Ottawa speak Canada's Second[?] Official Langwidge, eh?

The House of Commons has become the House of Comedy.

They should not be paid for the days like this, when they waste taxpayer's money.

Canada's parliament is in no position to be questioning any organization's integrity or that any ivestigation is inadequate. Not until it cleans up its own act first.

The fact that this item even made it to the house in the first palce shows how little in tune with the country parliament is....and no party is exempt from that.

As long as Quebec remains a part of Canada, this type of nonsense will continue. That's why I am a proud Anglo Quebec separatist. They need to go. It will be better for everyone.

I hear they are moving the Montreal Comedy Festival to Ottawa this year. After all, that seems to be where all the jokes are gathering.

And here i thought with Chretien gone there'd be nothing left to laugh about.

Shows how wrong I was.

"How many professional hockey/baseball/football/soccer players speak proper English?"

Likely more than Official Languages Commitee Members that speak proper English

I watched the entire proceedings that day, and as it unfolded I thought to myself, "What a disgusting spectacle the Bloc was turning it into". It reminded me of a witch hunt. Absolutely disgraceful.
I think the Bloc owes Hockey Canada an apology for the comments and innuendoes they made.

Hi Canadianna...it can only get better...the only way now is up...from that spectacle. Nicely worded post.
