It's almost sad that the Tories didn't have the guts to stick it out and allow the pig-three to form a coalition government. Would have been mighty interesting having Ignatieff and Rae and Layton explain how they could, in good conscience, allow the Bloc to actually be part of forming government.
Besides, there is so much in-fighting in the Liberal Party, they can barely function themselves, let alone hold it together with two other power hungry, divisive parties.
Too bad Harper blinked.

Ah, Canadians got a glimpse into what a coalition government would look like.
Visions of Finance Minister Layton are hard to get out of your head.
Gutless
"Too bad Harper blinked."
my feeling precisely.
you sever the "political welfare" piece of this thing into a separate confidence vote... let these socialist warriors decide if they wanna die on that particular hill.
harper doesn't bluff... there's some piece of the puzzle we're not getting to see.

Flahrety gave us balanced budgets, and we get to watch Liberals DEMAND the government go into deficit
for massive bailouts.
We got to see the Liberals almost bring down a government over their entitlements.
We watched as Dion got down on his knees, negotiating away the corporate tax cuts with Jack, and promising Quebec more money.
priceless
Hey well I have good news for you. The Coalition government is forming, regardless of John Bairds pathetic climb down today.
The Canadian people have had it with this bullshit government.
Have fun in opposition.
The coalition will not stand and we will be going back to an election. Dion, Taliban Jack and the Separatist will be held accountable by the electorate. Now won't that be pretty.
The coalition will stand thanks to Dion's brilliant strategy. He took a page out of Trudeau's playbook and will now be PM. Ignatieff and Rae are history. Dion saw a fork in the oad and he took it
"The Canadian people have had it with this bullshit government."
Really, I guess that is why a mere six weeks ago they voted this as you say, "bullshit government" into power.
Too bad you can't see that the "Canadian People" actually wanted the Tories to govern.
The only "bullshit" flowing is that which is being cooked up by Dumb and Dumber and their cohort Frenchie.
62% of Canadians who turned out in record lows voted against the conservatives. To suggest that they have the support of Canadians is absolutely obsurd and beyond arrogant.
Harper didn't blink, he's like a deer standing in headlights. He has no idea what to do. He has been getting by on the indiffernce of the Canadian voter, and I have a good feeling that his luck has run out.
Perhaps if he was dealing instead with the economy and not using legislation to bully the other parties, Canadians might protest such things as this. Canadians don't like bullies, and that's what Harper is and the lack of protest tells me that maybe canadian have finally had enough.
Harper has had plently of opportunities to govern the way Canadians wanted him to govern. Instead he has used his time in office to pass ill-concevied legislations which were rejected by a majority of Canadians.
Letter sent to Her Excellency the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson by leader of the opposition, Stephen Harper, 2004.

Her Excellency the Right Honourable Adrienne Clarkson,

Governor General

Excellency,
As leaders of the opposition parties, we are well aware that, given the Liberal minority government, you could be asked by the Prime Minister
to dissolve the 38th Parliament at any time should the House of Commons fail to support some part of the government's program.
We respectfully point out that the opposition parties, who together constitute a majority in the House, have been in close consultation. We believe that, should a request for dissolution arise this should give you cause, as constitutional practice has determined, to consult the opposition leaders and consider all of your options before exercising your constitutional authority.
Your attention to this matter is appreciated.
Sincerely,
Hon. Stephen Harper, P.C., M.P.
Leader of the Opposition
Leader of the Conservative Party of Canada
Also signed by Duceppe and Layton"
The Threesome could hardly hide their glee in the News Conference. And Taliban Jack issuing words of advice to the Prime Minister!! Oh, I can hardly wait to see the words the electorate issue to Taliban Jack. Happy Trails would be good
